Underutilized capital and how to utilize it

Check out this intriguing analysis of the Eli Broad decision not to give his art collection to the LA County Museum–one that goes far beyond the traditional art-news question whether Broad and the museum administration are feuding.   Not only does it explain how keeping the art collection in circulation better serves the purpose of museums (if not necessarily the purposes of the one museum coveting the collection for its own), it suggests the extent to which nonprofits short-sell themselves and their constituents by being more concerned with acquiring/accumulating assets than with using them.
