West Side Story

If you’re feeling in need of a little positive energy, tune in to the Marketplace interview with Reynold Levy of Lincoln Center, which broadcast last Thursday but will never, we daresay, be stale.  Levy’s straightforward account of raising money–you ask people for it, they give it to you–and his awareness of the amount of not-asking that passes for fundraising will be simultaneously familiar and refreshing to anyone in this business.  And his enthusiasm for the work of the agency he leads–especially his comment that it’s a privilege to get a backstage view of artists at work–will remind all of us on the administrative side of charity work why, to misquote Steven Stills, we chose to come this way.

A real shot in the arm.
